Curriculum

The Academy for Business and Technology uses the Michigan Merit Curriculum for grades 9-12 and the Kent County Collaborative Core Curriculum (KC4) for grades 6-8.
Teachers and other staff will require professional development, including expert consultants and in-service by the Quality School Improvement (QSI) team during the implementation of these curricula.
These curricula are available for inspection by parents and community at the school.
Additional subject areas have curricula aligned with the Michigan Merit (MM) Curriculum, including: business, computer science, fine arts, health and foreign language.
Each faculty member is required to cite MM Standards and Benchmarks in lesson plans submitted to the instructional coach every week. Standards for each class are aligned with grade-level content expectations (GLCEs) and High School Content Expectations (HSCEs). Consistency is obtained across all grades and courses using common assessment instruments including Study Island and Scantron.
