Field Trip to Meijer-Personal Finance Class

Field Trip to Meijer – Personal Finance

Teacher: Mrs. Hasseld

Our field trip to Meijer in Allen Park on November 11, 2009 was great. We found out that brand names cost more than generic foods and we also learned how to manage money while going shopping. This experience also taught us that catching items on sale was an easier way of saving money. Everybody needs to learn how to manage their money this way.

Meijer generously gave us a $50.00 gift card to purchase food for a class party. We had to balance our budget. Each group had a specific item to buy and a specific amount of money to spend. One group had $20 to find chicken to feed 15 people. That group decided to go to the deli and buy hot food. They bought four pounds of chicken wing dings. They didn’t go over budget, they spent $19.85. The chicken and other food was delicious!
